EAST PEORIA—V. Nicholas "Nick" Vales, 84, of East Peoria, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria.
Nick was born February 14, 1926 in Peoria a son of John and Mary Bais Vales.
Surviving is his sister, Helen Vales of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Nick loved to fish on the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. He also enjoyed gardening, sharing his vegetables with friends and neighbors, and was know for growing big onions.
He was a WW II Army Air Force Veteran.
Nick worked for The Joseph Company, 27 years, retiring as Closing Manager in 1997.
Nick was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010. Father John Sardis will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria.
