PEORIA – Jacqueline Hunter Klaus, 74, of Peoria, died at 5:17 a.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at her residence.

She was born September 4, 1935 in Decatur to Donald and Orlena Dunn Hunter. She married Robert Klaus on October 12, 1957 in Savanna, Illinois. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Scott Klaus of Peoria, Brenda (Rick) Peters of Peoria, Debi (Bobby) Meils of Peoria; her grandchildren, Chase, Abby, Samantha, Hunter, Caroline and Connor.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Jacqueline attended The University of Iowa and The University of Illinois and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.

She was a member of The PEO Sisterhood (Chapter KX), Junior League of Peoria, a member of the Easter Seal Auxiliary and Past Chairman of the Easter Seal Drive.

She worked as a Hostess, flying with Trans-World Airlines, was a certified pilot since 1971, with over 11, 000 hours of flying time and was a certified flight instructor. She also flew in both the Powder Puff and Angel Derbies, was a member of the Ninety Nines, Inc., International Organization of Women Pilots, AOPA, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association and was corporate pilot for The Klaus Companies.

She was a member of First Federated Church in Peoria, where she served as a deacon.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2010 at First Federated Church in Peoria. The Rev.'s Dr. Forrest L. Krummel, Jr. and Dr. Robert R. Gillogly will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 16 at the church.

Cremation rites have been accorded, with a private family burial of ashes in the Columbarium of First Federated Church.

The Wilton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
