PEORIA—Betty A. Gehrt, 93, of East Peoria, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria.
Born April 10, 1917 in Peoria, the daughter of W. Russell and Lorene Ulrich Wilday, Betty married Eugene F. Gehrt December 12, 1937 in Peoria. He preceded her in death March 23, 2002.
Surviving are one son, Rick (Beth) Gehrt of Peoria; one daughter, Terry (Lester) Faidherbe of Switz City, IN; one brother, James (Jane) Wilday of Springfield, IL; three grandchildren, Kevin Kedzior, Trey Gehrt, Amy Gehrt and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, William Russel Wilday Jr.
Betty was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and Caterpillar Retirees Club.
A member of Glen Oak Christian Church, Betty was a Deacon Emeritus and a Sunday School teacher.
Betty was known for her humor and quick wit. She loved working crosswords and putting together jigsaw puzzles with her friends at Riverview Senior Living Community.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at The Wilton Mortuary. The Rev Randy Williams will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before services Friday at the mortuary. Entombment will be in American Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to the Glen Oak Christian Church Scholarship Fund.
