Peoria --- Sylvia G. Burr, 72, of Deer Creek, died unexpectedly at 7:56 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born December 22, 1937 in Chillicothe to Chalice W. and Harriet G. Sweeney Jones, she married Arthur N. Burr, Sr. on June 24, 1966 in Peoria. Arthur preceded her in death on May 31, 2009 in Deer Creek.
Surviving her are five sons, Wesley (Julie) Burr of Deer Creek, Mark (Kimberly) Burr of Downers Grove, William "Bill" Burr of Peoria, Ted (Dottie) Burr of El Cajon, CA, and Arthur "Buddy" (Maria) Burr, Jr. of Peoria; one daughter, Nancy Burr, of Chicago; four brothers, Robert (Marilyn) Jones of Bowling Green, KY, Ronald (Judy) Jones of Moss Point, MS, Gerald (Faye) Stoner of Alvaton, KY, and Dick (Jean) Vickers of Streator, IL; and two sisters, Audrey Strode of Fiatt, IL, and Sharon (Harold) Luvin of Centerview, MO. Sylvia was a loving Grandma to Sylvia, Jacquelynn, Sydney, Morgan, Dalton, Shane, Amy, and Kimberly. She is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Besse Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Sylvia attended Streator High School, and was employed by Compass Group USA as a cashier, unit leader, and bookkeeper for 26 years at Caterpillar Corporate Headquarters, working until the time of her death. She took a lot of pride in her work. Sylvia loved all of her coworkers and customers. She truly enjoyed celebrating holidays, and dressing up for the holidays at work.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Wilton Mortuary. The Rev. Fr. Mark DeSutter will officiate. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Peace at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, as well as from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the services.
