PEORIA—Florine Elizabeth Edwards, 88, of Peoria, passed away at 4:45 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2013 at Washington Christian Village in Washington.

Born May 10, 1924 in Berne, IN, a daughter of Lewis and Sadie Bierberstein Strahm, Florine married Robert J. Edwards April 25, 1964 in Berne, IN. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jerry (Judith) Edwards of Peoria, John C. (Nita) Edwards of Mt. Carmel, IL; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah D. (Dawn) Edwards and their son, Cameron M. of Knightsdale, NC, David (Amy) Edwards and their son, Isaac of Hannibal, MO, Julie (Cajun) Kleeman of Mt. Vernon, MO, Lori (her friend Nathan Bell) McGuane and her son Casey McGuane of Peoria Heights; one sister, Jeanette (Kenneth) Yoder of Berne, IN.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Florine worked for Berne Overhall Factory, Flanagan Children's Home near Pontiac, and retired from Peoria Christian Center as a bookkeeper, after 10 years, in 1978.

She was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Florine enjoyed working with her crafts and sewing. She was known for her sense of humor.

A devout Christian and faithful to her Lord and church, Florine was a former member of the Berne Evangelical Mennonite Church in Berne and was a member of the First Free Methodist Church in Peoria.

At First Free Methodist Church she lead the Christian Youth Crusaders (CYC); chair person of the Kitchen Committee; was a member of the Offical Board and a board member of Parkside School. She also attended the Ladies Bible Study.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday February 27, 2013 at The Wilton Mortuary with the Reverend B. Elliott Renfroe officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to First Free Methodist Church.
