BRIMFIELD - Bernard "Gene" E. Fenwick, 90, of Brimfield died at 3:37 a.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Country Comfort in Elmwood, Ill.

He was born on July 24, 1926, in St. Elmo, Ill., to Bernard J. and Lylia M. (Dively) Fenwick. Bernard married Doris J. Moke on February 23, 1946, in Pekin, Ill.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Doris, and his two daughters, Sandra Crowe and Susan (Gregg) Silzer, all of Brimfield; his grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Mullens, Brian (Danielle) Mullens, Tina (Jarame) Runyon, David (Lorrena) Griffith, Julie (Justin) May, Jennifer (Justin) Smith and Jill Kennelly; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Bernard served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45 during World War II. He was a tenner for Caterpillar for many years. He loved spending time with family. Later in life, he took up painting and woodworking. He was also a golden glove boxer.

Bernard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Edwards, Ill.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria, with the Rev. David Gruber officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary on Monday, April 17. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).
