PEORIA – Michael K. Taylor, 55, of Peoria, died at 2:52 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center from complications following cancer surgery.
He was born November 17, 1953, in Peoria, to William E. and Judith A. McDuff Taylor.
Surviving are his mother of Peoria; two sisters, Tammy (Howard) Hanse of Glasford and Jill (Eric) Peterson of East Peoria; one niece, Morgan Hanse of Bellevue; two nephews, Christopher Hanse of Glasford and Zack Peterson of East Peoria; two aunts; two uncles; many cousins; and his stepmother, Jeannie Taylor of Bonita Springs, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A 1972 graduate of Richwoods High School, Mike was a radio announcer for several area stations in the 1970s and early 1980s, and was a reporter for WCBU. He was a long-time employee of KAT, Inc. and Design Plus, both in Peoria, and most recently working as a radon mitigation specialist in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Mike enjoyed working with computers, electronics, following politics and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2009, at the Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded.
