PEORIA—John Matthew White, 91, of Peoria, died at 12:33 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
Born April 10, 1918, in Peoria, the son of Gilbert and Oma O'Neal White, John married Muriel E. Larash September 3, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa. She died April 12, 2001 in Washington.
Surviving are two sons, John G. (Brenda) White of The Villages, Florida, Harry C. (Carole) White of Morton; one daughter, Julie Ann White of Ashville, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; one half brother, Arthur (Shirley) Richardson of Knightstown, Indiana and one half sister, Roberta McCoy of York, Pennsylvania, and his companion, Marilyn King.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; his half-brother and half-sister.
John was a WW II Navy Veteran.
He worked in construction for the Plasters and Cement Masons Finishers Local #12, retiring in 1982.
John was a 60 year member of the Illinois Lodge # 263 AF & AM.
He was a member of the Plasters and Cement Masons Finishers Local #12.
John attended Roland Manor Baptist Church in East Peoria.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2009 at Swan Lake Memory Garden Chapel Mausoleum. Rev. Steve Hardin will officiate. There will be no visitation. The Wilton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens with Military Rites.
