PEORIA—Evelyn M. "Evey" Kreeger, 83, of Peoria, passed away at 7 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at Lutheran Hillside Village.
Born December 8, 1926 in Peoria Heights to Clarence P. and Florence M. Trunz Wilhelm, Evey married Lawrence C. Kreeger on June 20, 1948 at First English Lutheran Church in Peoria. He died July 16, 2009 in Peoria.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Clarence R. Wilhelm.
Surviving are her three sons, John (Rita) Kreeger of Two Rivers, Wis, Larry (Debra) Kreeger of Brimfield, Dr. Robert (Elizabeth) Kreeger of Indianapolis, Ind. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Michael (Molly) Kreeger, Elizabeth (Omar) Enriquez, twins Mickala and Kaitlyn, Lauren, Grant, Scott, and Allison Kreeger and Carly Twedell; four great-grandchildren, Claire Marie Kreeger Ema, Alli, and Esben Enriquez. Also surviving are her sisters, Shirley Williamson of Galesburg, Phyllis Wartick of Peoria, Virginia Tackmann of Peoria, Genevieve (James) Jackson of Midland, GA and her sister-in-law, Virginia Kreeger. She leaves many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved as well as her "adopted" grandchildren, Matt, Molly and Chris.
Evey worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company during World War II prior to her marriage to Larry. She enjoyed being a housewife and raising her sons. She also enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren, and savored the moment when she rocked her great-granddaughter in her arms for the first time. During her retirement years, Evey and Larry spent the winters traveling south, learning to line dance and making new friends.
Evey was a member of First English Lutheran Church, in Peoria, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010. The Rev. Dr. James Lillie will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at The Wilton Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation.
