PEORIA—Dorothy Hardy Doty (Nevitt), 87 of Peoria, died at 8:45 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at Bickford Cottage.

Dorothy was born December 30, 1922 in Tiskilwa to William Monroe and Mary Elizabeth McCauley Nevitt.

She married Warren J. Hardy. She later married George L. Doty July 16, 1994 in Peoria. He died June 8, 1998 in Peoria.

Surviving are one son, Stanley W. (Mary) Hardy of Danville; one daughter, Paula A. Evans of Peoria; four brothers, Francis Nevitt of Henry, Lloyd (Frances) Nevitt of Lacon, Leonard (Marge) Nevitt of Peoria, Bill (Janet) Nevitt of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Sarah (Matt) Smiley and Scott Hardy both of Danville.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Dorothy worked as the secretary to the office manager at Kroger in Peoria. She then worked for Peoria School District 150, 18 years, retiring as a secretary in 1985.

She was a member and Past Matron of the Creve Coeur Chapter 946 OES and Daughters of the Nile, Ortho Temple # 36.

She volunteered for the Center for the Prevention of Abuse.

Dorothy was a member and elder of United Presbyterian Church, 2400 W. Northmoor Rd, Peoria, IL, where services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Rev. Dr. Randall Saxon will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at The Wilton Mortuary. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lacon.

Memorials may be made to the Center for the Prevention of Abuse or Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
