Peoria – Anna Mary Cooper, 89, of Peoria, died at 7:13 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 at OSF Saint Clare in Peoria Heights.
She was born Nov. 15, 1920 in Peoria, a daughter of Frank B. and Mae Hall Lawler.
Surviving are one daughter, Pamela Proctor of South Bend, Ind.; one son, Joseph (Hoa) Cooper of Canton; three grandchildren, Jason (Petrina) Proctor of Carpenterville, Matthew (Karen) Proctor of Lithia, Fla., and Jeffrey (Shanna) Proctor of Chicago, six great-grandchildren, Lauren Proctor, Elizabeth Proctor, Brendan Proctor, Mia Proctor, James Proctor and Madeline Proctor; one sister, Geraldine Hecht of Effingham; many nieces and nephews; and of course, "Lady" Cooper, her trusted, loyal and loving Great Pyrenees.
In her varied working career, Anna had been employed at Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria during World War II, the Hematology Dept. at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Grawey Auto Parts in Peoria, taught third and fourth grade at St. Philomena Catholic School in Peoria, office manager for Dr. C. V. Ward, Jr., O.D. in Peoria, and the last 20 years for Goldsworthy, Fifield and Gorman Law Offices in Peoria.
Anna had been an active volunteer for March of Dimes, American Cancer Society and at OSF St. Francis in Peoria.
She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria, where a memorial mass will be at noon on Friday. The Rev. Donald Henderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of the services at noon. Private committal services of ashes will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Peoria following the memorial mass. Wilton Mortuary in Peoria is in charge of local arrangements.
