PEORIA – Velma L. Skinner, 78, of Peoria, died at 8:33 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born April 2, 1931 in Cooperstown, Illinois, to Fred and Ester Burnett Leverton. She married Ralph E. Skinner on December 9, 1950 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2003, in Peoria.
Also preceding her in death are her parents and two sisters.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Tracey) Skinner of Peoria: her grandchildren, SueAnn (Joe) Denson and Steven M. Skinner, both of Peoria; her great-grandchildren, Joseph W. Denson II and Daniel M. Denson, both of Peoria.
She was active with the Boy Scouts of America for more than 20 years, was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2009 in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. The Rev. Joey Watt will officiate. There will be no visitation. The Wilton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
