Margaret A. Hochstrasser, age 101, of Peoria, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017, and went to be with her Lord and Savior.

Margaret was born on March 13, 1915 in Libertyville, IL to Jake and Edna (Kaderly) Alleman. She married Richard Hochstrasser on February 7, 1937. He preceded her in death on her birthday, March 13, 2002, after being married 65 years. Also preceding her in death are one sister and one brother.

Surviving are one sister; several nieces and nephews; and her many friends, especially, Sherry Goetz and Meridy Thorn were like daughters to Margaret.

Margaret graduated from Libertyville High School in 1934. She had an active life and did many things. She worked for Hiram Walkers and volunteered at Proctor Hospital for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader, sang with the Belles of Harmony and Hearts of Illinois Choir for many years. Singing was her life. Margaret was a Charter Member of Belles of Harmony in 1950 as well as a Lifetime Member. She was also a Sweet Adeline for 68 years. Margaret also sang on the W.L.S Radio Station in Chicago and for the Presbyterian Choir.

She played all kinds of sports. You name it, she played it! She also played the organ, piano and guitar. Her organ teacher even had her play at the Fair in Peoria.

Margaret wanted everyone to know that was happy and lived a wonderful life.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11am at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Stephen McKinney-Whitaker will be officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
